cant get starter to turn motor over! help

Hey guys, i just swapped a motor, drive shaft, transmission from a 1985.5 944N /A into my 1983 N/A. Everything is ready to go BUT i can not get my starter to turn the motor over. I have tried 3 different starters they all work. The battery is good and fullycharged. When i firsttried to start it i got one full rotation of the motor and then it stopped and just made a click noise from the starter. Every time i turned the key it would make ONE click. I then would go turn the motor by hard by tye crank bolt,i very slight turn and i can hear the starter click again. I took the 3 grounds off the back of the motor and cleaned them up, put them back on and this time i got 2 full rotations from the motor and then the starter stopped and clicked. BUT this time when i turn the key it clicks multiple times quickly entail i let off the key. Dose anybody know what this can be or has anybody had this problem before?? Any info is much appreciated.

Thank-Dane

It sounds like a battery cable issue.

Check and replace the main power wire to the starter and the ground wire from the battery to the chassis. It can't get enough amperage across dirty/corroded wiring from the battery to turn the motor over.

Make sure the battery terminals and cable ends are clean, using a battery terminal cleaning tool. Ensure the cable ends are tightened to the battery and that the cables themselves are not damaged.

Ok ill get on that right now. The cable from the battery to tge starter is just 1 cable directly to the starter? Or is tgere any cutting and splicing of other wires?

not on a porsche but on an old dodge slant 6
there was so much gunk on the metal the starter set on it did not ground

Ok i just put a new cable from the battery to the starter and it didnt fix anything. All it did when i turned it over was a loud pop! Then click click click click its a new starter, my 3rd one. Battery is good and fully charged. Grounds are all tight. Is there a starter relay or fuse? This is driving me insane

All the grounds were really corroded. I clean them off and it started up but only for a max of about 5 seconds, if i even touch the gas it cuts out instantly. Any suggestions?

Check all your vacuum lines, especially the 1/2 inch ID one going to the intake manifold.

Also, check your TPS and AFM for good connections.
