Leaky sunroof temporary repair

The PO of my 87 S dropped the roof at some point and its got a chunk out of a corner..

The car is normally garaged but my wife needs to take it on a 4 day trip this weekend and we are supposed to get rain.
I decided to pour some water around the seal to see if it leaks, and sure enough, its got a pretty bad drip on the drivers side where the chunky corner is..

Best idea I could come up with that would make it water tight and be inexpensive till I can get a replacement roof and seals was this..

Paid the local print / sign shop $20 to cut me a piece of white vinyl that is 2" larger than the roof all the way around.. I rounded off the corners and put it on just now..

Not pretty, but now I can rest easy that the car isn't filling up with water while it's parked in a hotel lot this weekend..

Sun roof seals will always leak, so there is a channel (like a rain gutter on a house) around the opening with a drain hose in each corner. Pour a small amount of water into each drain and watch for it to come out under the car.

If water overflows and doesn't show up underneath, you have a clogged drain and the roof will leak. Usually the drain hose is clogged at the connectors. Easy to disassemble and clean. Right rear one clogs the most often as there is a Y connector with the fuel flap drain. Might need a little sealer or some new hose if it is cracked.

Got caught in a sudden downpour before I had time to fix a broken rear hinge so I pulled into a Sunoco station, helped myself to the free stickers and made a quick seal with them.

Well done for an emergency repair, and good luck finding another roof that color matches. I suspect white will be an easier color than say a red which is more fade prone.

If it takes too long to find one, you might even "upgrade" to a magnetic sign large enough to cover the opening. At least you could take it off and reapply it as necessary.

The PO 'touched up' the damage and ther's a bit of silicone in there, but there must be something bent just a bit. The roof doesn't sit completely flat in that corner.

I'm looking for another white roof.. I missed out on a $500 1987 944 in white that needed a lot of work but ran and drove..
I was the second guy to call, but guy #1 bought it. Would have been a great parts car to have around.

Get the glass Saratoga top that was just re-introduced, if it fits.
