I have a 1990 S2...
The heater will not shut down. It remains on high all the time. I suspect that its a control valve but I don't know where its located. Are there instructions on how to install a heater control valve, IF, that is the problem. Just for some history: before, as I suspected something was going wrong, the heater control on the dash was very sensitive like it was either all the way on, or all the way off. Thanks, any help will be appreciated. ![]() |

I had that problem on my 88 951. The control valve was buried on the firewall behind the cylinder head. It was a pain to reach, even with the intake off.
The vacuum diaphragm failed internally, but the valve itself looked fine from the outside. I suspect you can find a diagram that shows its location if you look at PET and of course the FSM's and/or Hayne's manual will help you with whatever work you need to do on the car. Hope this helps....

On the S2 the heater valve is on the passenger side, right next to the oil filter. Zip tie it closed to see if the heat turns off. That being said, when I had this issue with my S2, it was the clip.

Consistent heat. Clip nearly every time.
