1980 924 turbo speedo cable

adapting the trans from a 924 turbo to a different application. does the g31 use a speedo cable?
all the ports are nicely capped for transit, any idea which one is for the speedo?

I thought the cable ran from the grease cap on DS front wheel to speedo pod in the dash?

On the 924's the speedo is driven like a Beetle or early 911, off the front wheel. Only the later 944 and other cars were driven off the trans.

good to know.
I had thought the 924 used Golf mk1 derived front suspension, so assumed the speedo would be cable drive like the golf.
if the speedo input of the car its going into is a 1:1 with the final drive, I can probably make something that will work

It does use Golf/Rabbit Mk1 front suspension, reversed with different upper strut mounts and uprights which are closer to those on a Super Beetle. Rack is a modified RHD Rabbit manual rack flipped around, etc.

The cable is driven by the wheel bearing cap via a square hole in the cap like the beetle, 911 and 914. Lots of solutions abound to drive the speedo electronically or to swap it out for a later VDO unit, etc.
