hi guys! bought a 944 a month or so ago as a non runner,it had been standing for about 12 months, when i started work on the car i found out that the ecu was water damaged, fitted a new one and hey presto it ran superb, i then took it for an m.o.t, it failed! nothing major loose whell bearings a few small other jobs plus some welding to the floor, these jobs were done and with a valid mot tax and insurance i was going to enjoy the remainder of the summer, roof off in my blue 944, then disaster struck! whilst driving the motor sudenly seemed to loose compression i drove it back home thinking the head gasket had gone, when i started to strip it down i got as far as taking the cambelt covers off when i noticed that the belt had stripped, most off the teeth on i side had gone, fearing the worst i stripped down the rest of the head assembly and guess what? all the valves were bent, so i had lost all compression making me think ii the first instant that the gasket had gone.so if any guys out there can offer any advice on refitting new valves head tourque settings etc i would be very grateful. thanx

Depending on the miles the current head has seen you may be able to just replace the bent valves and lap them back in. Replacing the stem seals will stop most of the oil bypass that worn valve guides develop and get you by for 20,000 miles or so.
If the guides are really worn it's best to do a complete valve job on the head. But remember that fixing low compression can result in the rings failing. Search other posts about timing belts and pulleys.
