Reroute return hose power steering
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398185416.jpg
Concerned about how close the return hose for the power steering return hose is to the exhaust header and the heat! The heat shields in this area have been discarded long ago! Did some searching and read a few posts and it seems that you can remove about 6"-8" of the power steering return hose to the reservoir Looks like if I rotate the elbow in the line at the pump and bring it in from the front it will be out of the way from the pulley and pretty much a straight shot to the reservoir! Thoughts please!SmileWavy |

Get the new style return hose.
944 Power Steering Lines : ArnnWorx Specialty Tools Pelican sells it and the new fitting. Pelican Parts - Product Information: 944-347-445-05-M260 Pelican does not list the early 944 but ParagonProducts says it will fit. Porsche 944 Steering Parts J_AZ |
Thanks guys! I went ahead and cut it off. There's no pinching! I'll give it a try!
If you've been following my 84 Speed Yellow thread, you'll know I'm putting this car back together after years of neglect. So, today, when I was putting the last few bits back on, I couldn't believe how close the return line was to the headers and I know that put off some serious heat in such a confined space! |
For additional safety, I like to wrap some insulation around each of those PS hoses.

Good Idea
