When I purchased my 944 last week I was told that the AC did not work. OK, I can deal with that I thought. I decided while I was charging my daughter's AC in her car that I would see what I could do with the Porsche. The switch for the AC does not light up when it is pushed, but I asked my daughter to push it in and hold it while I charged the system.
You know what? It worked! I need to replace the switch. Has anyone done it? What needs to be removed? I don't want to start taking stuff out until I figure out what might need to be removed to get to it with the least amount of torture. The fact the switch is over $100 is punishment enough, but having the working AC is priceless! ![]()

My defrost switch on the temperature control unit has the same problem. If I hold it in, it works, but it just won't latch. My current work around (till I find a used unit I can cannibalize) is simple. I found a piece of plastic material just thick enough to wedge between the switch button and the face plate. Push the button in, insert wedge, and act like it was made that way. You could probably do the same with the AC button, until you can find a less expensive used unit to steal parts off of.
