OK, here's a stumper...
86 n/a, has spark, proper timing, getting fuel, no vacuum lines missing or broken, swapped out the computer from a running car, new reference sensors and has tach bounce, replaced and even jumped the dme relay, tried starting fluid, and it still won't start. Any suggestions? Thanks for advice...

Check that the rotor is in time with the cam gear, if the tiny Allen screw falls out it can spin and not be in time with the cam. .... But can still show spark. .....

When you say getting fuel, where are you testing from? Something was missed in the trouble shooting.

Fuel is coming to the rail and the injectors are from a used, but running car. It should still run on starting fluid, at least for a second I would think.

I might take it a step further with a pressure test in the fuel rail and also an LED test to confirm signal to the injectors.

Thanks for all of the advice. It ended up being a bad reference sensor. Even though I replaced the old with new, one was still bad.

Good to know. My 85.5 car is doing the same thing and I have been testing everything. Would not even run on starting fluid. I may have to replace both, just for good measure if anything else.
