Putting in a brand new DME relay and it should be trouble free for years. You have something else going on.

Do a necroscopy
1) What brand relays are you using? Where were they made--do they have a "made in xxxx" marked on them? No blown fuses?
2) Gently pry the covers off of the dead relays and see exactly what the problem is. Is it a blown diode? Are there burnt wires? If there are burnt wires or one of the coils is fried which circuit is the damage on--is it the same circuit on both? The relay controls two separate circuits the DME and the fuel pump, IIRC. Use the numbers on the pins to specify which circuit has the problem (87b-87, 86-85, etc). On an old failed relay that I have from 1996 the top coil is discolored "greenish-grey"; the insulation on the windings apparently failed and shorted out the coil causing the car to die but restart until it finally fully failed. What fun. You may need to test the dead relays if possible with a volt-ohm meter & some jumper wires (be careful) and a 12 volt battery. You may have an intermittent short or a batch of poor quality relays(?). Check out Clark's Garage Fuel-05 DME Relay, great read. Good Luck. Let us know what you find.
