944 on new AMC series

I'm watching Mad men this week and I see an ad for the new AMC series "Halt & catch fire". Taking place in the eighties one of the main characters is driving a 944!

Err.... it's not out yet.
I'll try and convince the wife to watch it when it does come out. She'll know exactly why I suggested it.

Made the wife watch that show with me.

It looks to be an 86. Early offset phonedials, no antenna on the left fender, and third brake light. The rear defroster does not work, it had a brown interior, and no sunroof.

Says the show is set in early 80's. I only caught a glimpse of it at first and thought it was an S2 or turbo, but then saw the bumper.

Return of the Jedi came out in 83, so yes, the show takes place in that year, but the car is a 86.
Only 944 nerds like us would notice.

lol classic. nice snooping team!

looks like early offset PD's, late style gutters, flsh windscreen so +1 for an '86.

They also dubbed some other engine sounds over it while driving and when it was taking off slowly from stop it sounded like an auto.
