I initially suspected the repeatedly disappearing clutch port plugs was international gang activity, but it could be those damn home schooled hooligans down the street.
Thanks for the attaboy, slam, on the clutch cover cleanliness. All I wanted out of the Excellence Life was a clean bell cover, but while I had that part down at the local Bell House Wash & Dry, like any sane person would I also did the belts & pump, r&r oil pan, new clutch, torque tube rebuild, m030 all around including large D torsion, Konis & sway bars, swapped/sold my original tranny for a brand new-on-pallet one for $100 (shipping was a beech) out of pocket and put weltmeister bushes on the rear but I dont really like the bushes, they have some play & squeaks so their days are numbered. I noted some new grime on the bell house the other day while dusting for finger prints; naturally in response I'm replacing the original rag top and have the cabby body dismantled to prep for a G.Red repaint in exact match of that exquisite clutch hole cover, dropping in a new compressor / condenser/ R134 retro plus a fresh alternator, PS pump and used rebuilt rack. How the heck did THAT get in there ? Would really like to polish the intake "quadropus" (ie, half of an octopus) manifold ( just the plenum tubes, leave the webs as-cast ... wouldn't that be cool!) but the bell simply wasn't bad nuf to tackle that task now. Maybe when I put the NOS injectors in. Apparently that late-nights-cruising-ebay-for-value-parts-addiction-while-trying-to-catch-the-inspection-plug-bandit-red-handed (known on the web by the convenient acronym LNCEFVPAWTTCTIPBRH) is finally starting to bear fruit! The inspection-plug-bandit has tagged me for about 6 of those over the years...8 bucks a hit - but not as bad as when one of my puppies walked off with a $100 baggie of seal rings....Bruce
