Michigan 944 Owners?

Are there any 944 owners on here that currently live in Michigan(or Ohio, depends on location); preferably Southeastern Michigan? If so, I could really use your help!

I'm planning on buying my own 944 either this summer or the next for $2000 or less, and I've only done so much as sit in one! In order to really understand and get a feel for these cars, I'd like to sit in the passenger seat for a ride, or if any owners are willing, even a test drive so I know what exactly it is I'm expecting from a 944.

Would anyone be interested in helping me out? Any help would be very appreciated.

On a side note, what color is this 944? I found this picture on the internet and it's a color I've never seen on a 944 before, but I think it's simply the best color I've ever seen.

I don't have any 944s, but I do have a 1988 924S SE with the 160BHP high compression motor, which will give you an excellent baseline on what a well-sorted 2.5L feels like. I also have several 2.0L variants for you to compare with.

I'm not there every day, as it's not my day job. I also travel a lot for work, so you'll need to make arrangements in advance.

The blue on the cab in that photo does not appear to be a stock 944 color. It appears to be some variant of signal blue, but I'm just guessing.

Really? I'd be a bit scared to drive someone else's car on a public road. Maybe a parking lot? When could I drive yours, if that's alright?

Seriously unless you're under 18 it's not a big deal! My car will be down for a few days until I can get the new clutch slave cylinder installed!

That'd be awesome! I am 18 and I would really appreciate it!
When would I be able to do this? When works best for you?

Probably not for a while, maybe two weeks. We'll setup a time to meet at Ideolas garage.

That would be great. I could do something thus weekend. The next two weekends probably won't work because we'rd heading up north for the 4th. So if not thus weekend then maybe Sat the 12th?

Does Friday count as the weekend? Friday would be my best day. But if Saturday or Sunday is better for you it'd have to be very early in the morning(from 7-12pm) or in the evening(after 7pm)

I live in Vermilion OH, 44089, which is a little over an hour from the Michigan border. I have three 944's and you are welcome to come by and go for a ride and take one up the road. I can teach you what you want to know about the cars and share some of my personal experience of what to look for and what to avoid. Shoot me a pm if you're interested.

I just noticed your response, It's been a while since anyone responded here and I've already found a 944 to buy. Just gotta finish getting the funds for it.

It's actually kinda funny in a way; because I recognize your profile pic from Rennlist, if you go over there and look for anything related to Karl_W944, you'll see the year-long, two-thread story related to this thread. Should be somewhere up top in the 924/944/968 section.

Hahaha, Karl, I saw your threads over there. Very nice. The offer stands though. If I can be of any help working on the car or helping with parts or anything let me know. Always looking to meet fellow 944 owners!

Cool. It's a bit of a drive for me, but somewhere down the road, I'd love to meet you and fellow owners some time.
