Where do you guys buy nuts and bolts?
Just did a quick once over of all the usual web merchants and cannot find the bolts for my new motor mounts??? I have the hardware for the old style but they are too long for the new ones.
I am going to need replacements for all the exhaust bolts I cut off as well. Anyone have a good source for hardware and fasteners?

In some cases we find them at the local hardware store. Other wise the dealer for the special ones.

That is what I figured. Just wanted to check before I do the Home depot / Canadian tire run.
Hey how are Metric bolts graded??? 8.8 , 10.8 . . . . Is 8.8 enough for just about anything? Is the a corse thread and a fine one?

You may finds some at Partssource (check yellow pages for metric nuts and bolts places).... Crappy tire and Homedepot dont like to carry high grade metric bolts...
The metric bolts come in different threads 1.25 1.5 etc.... always take a sample

The kit I got from Eagleday was very nice IMHO. It includes most of the sizes you would ever need for a 944. It has come in very handy with all the work I've been doing recently. Most are rate at or above the original components.

First Call in Ottawa sells high grade 10.9 metric bolts.
If you can't find them there, then there is always Ottawa fastener supply |

Well if are actually going to discuss a 9 year old thread. I get most of mine from work, aircraft grade metric hardware. In a pinch the local napa store is also a hardware store. They have most sizes, and failing that p-car dealership.

ace or twm induction.. TWM has these really cool 8x125 prevailing torque nuts that use a 10mm socket instead of 13mm!! I'm not sure but I think they might be titanium.. I use them on my motorcycle head studs and my vw intake mani's as it's almost impossible to put a regular sized wrench/socket on big dual port mani's.. Other than that, ARP is another good source.
If you match the thread pitch and diameter but can't find the exact length, get longer ones.. put a nut on the long side of the stud down to the hilt.. then grind off the excess length of stud carefully.. round off and debur the threaded end with a file or deft grinder work then unscrew the nut to clean the thread ends.

McMaster Carr has just about everything you could ever imagine, some stuff I get at the hardware store, some from local auto parts store, some from our supplier here if I know what I need in advance. Marine hardware stores can also be good places to find strange bolts.

Fastenall or any hardware store if I'm desperate. Normally keep a rack of metrics in the usual sizes handy.
