Control Arm Bushings
1986 944
I am rebuilding a control arm while in camp for work. I am ordering the Weltmeister bushing set and a new castor block. I have a track ball joint kit I am using. I am wondering if the Weltmeister bushing come with the end caps or not. I bought a spare control arm to build here so I can do a quick swap when at home. I am in the process of destroying the old bushings to get them out. I will remove the outer liner as I have read this is required. I had to bend up the original end cap to get remove the old bushings and hope I will not need to reuse them. I assume the castor block will be just a easy press onto that joggled bolt. Anything to look out for or pay attention to? Stephen

I think you saw my setup when you were over that one time, I put early steel arms on, so I'm not familiar with the aluminum control arm rebuild. But I do have red weltmeister bushings, and unless greased, they squeak like crazy.
Where will you go for an alignment? I hear GLI Autowerks in Chilliwack is familiar with our cars, and can do the rear... I need mine dome soon.

By end caps I'm assuming you mean the metal pieces on the outside of the control arm bushings.
If that's the case, than the answer is no to both of you questions. The weltmeister kit does not come with them, and you don't need to re-use them. I haven't done the rear castor block with weltmeisters, as I just used this sealed type. However, I believe the stock ones just had some sort of U clip that went around it, so it'd be easier than changing the front bushings.
