Trying to identify strut spring with part #

There are no color bars on this, anyone know what the spring rate is on this? Part # looks like 492 MUB95134.3
I got it from someone who was going to put it on his '91 S2 but he didn't know the spring rate.

What color is the paint dot on the coil, that can clue you on to what it is

There are no colored dots or bars on either spring. I looked for evidence where someone might have scratched or rubbed them off but didn't see anything.

Measure the wire-diameter with some calipers.

DannoXYZ 09-03-2014 07:09 PM

Here's some info I found:

944
wire-diameter = 12.0mm
free height = 407mm

944S2
wire-diameter = ???
free height = 378mm

951 non-S
wire-diameter = 12.0mm
free height = 396mm

951, 1990+
wire-diameter = 11.6mm
free height = 356mm

951 TurboS or S2+M030
wire-diameter = 11.7-12.2mm
free height = 329mm

You can compare what you have to one of those to see which matches.

Free standing it looks to be about 358mm. I'll have a micrometer tomorrow to measure the wire diameter.

Wire diameter looks to be about 11.7mm.
