Fuse Block - Partially Powered
In my 91 944S2 I am getting power to part of the fuse block and trying to traceback the root cause for the section I do not have power. The car was gutted for the rally cage and some of the clearly unnecessary wires have been removed, so anything could have happened.
For fuses 1-15, I get power just fine. From what I can tell on the wiring diagram, these are powered through the two big power plugs on the side of the fuse block (designated 30). I do not get power from 16-41. It's hard to trace back on the wiring diagrams, but it looks like these might be powered from the plugs themselves, maybe plug B and C. I need to know: - What plugs are supplying power to 16-41 - What wires on these plugs are supposed to supply power Any thoughts on the above? |
Hi there, yes the wiring diagrams can be confusing. Fuses 1 thru 15 are 'bussed' together as you have discovered and they do have a single feed. The outputs from these fuses then feed various circuits and relays.
However, the majority of the fuses 16 thru 41 are inline protection for individual circuits and so they do not have a single source. Each one could have several other components inline such as a relay, switch, electronic module and so forth, and the supply itself could come from a variety of direct, or fused sources within the central electric box. The easiest way to see if you are getting anything on these fuses is to activate the circuit the fuse is protecting and measure the voltage then - such as the lights, headlight motor, wiper motor, etc. What devices are not working? Do you have all the required relays in the box? Knowing this should pin-point where you might have a problem. |
