Porsche Crest 951 turbo 1986, Pandoras' box..

Ok so you buy a 951 Turbo, made in Germany in 1986 for a few pennies..No service history, no owners manual, odometer reading 90.345, and You test drive it and notice that the odometer doesnt work.
The seats have cheap covers, the dash is cracked, the non original paint job is shinny but nasty, the car stands 3" from the ground, and the guys that wants to sell it to you is an egyptian. (no offence to Egyptians).

What would you do????!!!

Well I look at it and thought...."it will be my pride and joy in a year from now"...

1 week later, the car is at the garage, and it needs a new clutch, new steering rack, oil leaks galore, tyres, etc , etc .etc.

A month later the 951 no longer marks the spot, the power steering works, but every day a new issue arrises...

Which leads me to this question...

Did an 951 come with both electric and manual adjustments for the drivers seat? If no, can anyone tell me why I can adjust them using the mechanical leavers, and why I have a bunch of wires hanging from the left hand side of my drivers seat???!!

I hope everything goes well with your 951 restoration.

On my 944 the seats are manual, except for the front/rear seat height adjustment, which is power. That would probably explain the wires dangling.

By the way, post some pics of your car as the work progresses. It would be interesting to see it transform from a beat-up piece of junk to a beautiful car.

That is correct. Nice looking 951! I can't really tell, but those wheels look like polished Fuchs, very nice! By the way, I see you're in Dubai. I've been there a few times, beautiful place.

Wink

Well I have just checked this morning, and I found 4 wires. Perhaps 2 wires per switch. Or maybe just one switch, two wires for moving it up, and two wires for moving the seat down.

Dubai is a lovely place with great open roads, one can really push a car to it;s limits.

The wheels are Fuchs, silver paint in the centre but polished outer rim. They too are in nead of attention.

Soon I hope to completely refurbish the leather interior along with new carpets. Perhaps cover the dash and centre consel with leather.
