Early/Late Front spoiler difference

A few months ago I picked up a front spoiler in decent shape, after I repaired a few spots and painted it I come to realize there's a difference between the one on my 84 and this one. Up till now I thought all NA non S2 spoilers were the same.

Nope, they changed between the 85/1 and the 85/2 models.

Of course, you could look that up on the PET.

Yea, I hadn't looked on PET, from what I'd seen 83-89 was the same. According to PET it has the same p/n's for both early and late I it looks like I need p/n 944 575 921 000, air duct. If I read the breakdown correctly.

I replaced my 84 spoiler with an 86 unit. The main difference is in the lower air foil met directly under the radiator of the earlier unit. The later spoilers required custom brackets to secure this area. I simply made two aluminum braces (@3.5 inch long) and drilled one hole on each end that lined up with the existing bolt holes. All other areas line up perfectly.

My car is at the paint shop now or I would take a couple pics.

I was a little worried about the radiator not getting enough cooling. But it sounds like it's not an issue with you pfarah.

Nope. If fact, between installing that spoiler and an original belly pan, my operating temp has become quite stable.
