Oil Pressure Relief Valves
After many hours of trying to figure out what oil pressure relief valve I have in the 924S I came across this tutorial which has (wait for it!!) PICTURES...
Some of you may find it helpful if you have to remove the oil cooler and need to order replacement o-rings and washers for the OPRV. I was able to remove my oil cooler without removing the exh manifold but getting the four bolts started back in for reassembly will be a challenge. Not much room but if that German guy can do it, maybe I can...... 944 Foot To The Floor: How to remove and replace OPRV (Oil Pressure Relief Valve) on a Porsche 944 Jon

Not bad, the 8th picture down I originally posted to pelican. I hereby give up all copyright to this picture.
I recommend a flexible 1/4" extension on a nut driver to get the oil cooler housing bolts bolts back in. Sears.com Then you need to switch over to a swivel head 3/8" drive ratchet to tighten them down. Sears.com |

Fortunately I have the other one-piece valve and the tool is only $20.00.
But my understanding is that the older valves of the style I have were not treated for corrosion and are prone to fail. I have no idea if my valve has that problem except that it was working fine. I'm just going to put it back in and not worry about it! Jon
