Agreed, no big deal
I've never had trouble bleeding the system either so I don't understand the grief. Using pressure on the reservoir just gets most of the air out with the least cleanup. When I've done it with the engine running there is more mess as the frothy coolant sputters out the bleed screw. If you don't mind coolant spatter it works fine too. Happy motoring.

I use an old Stant ST-255A pressure tester I got at a local garage sale for $8. It was for a VW Beetle but the top locks fine onto my 944S2.
I just open the bleed screw, put a towel under it, overfill the tank, pump coolant through, keep pumping and filling until coolant comes out the top, close bleed screw, pump more, bleed more, and clean up, and then pressurize to around 12psi and leave it there for around 15 minutes to see how it's sealed. Usually that will force a loose hose or other leak to show up immediately, so I rinse, adjust repeat until the system is sealed and the pressure holds, then done. And yes, I have been known to leave it pumped up for a few yours, and also to drive the car up a ramp after a quick drive, and burp/bleed anyway, just to be sure. |
