245/45 16" tyres for 944
This may be a dumb question,
What are the best tyres to put on my 944 that : 1) Give lots of grip, wet and dry 2) Unlike my current Bridgstone RE730s don't make a noise like all my wheel bearings are failing at once! Don't mind too much if wear is not great MArk |

You need 8" rims for the 245/45/16s, usually go on the rear only. 225/50/16's on the 7" fronts. You might have some clearance issues if you ran the 245's on the front also. What rims do you have?

The stock wheels for the S2 will handle 245/45 16's. You won't have any rubbing issues whatsoever, even on the front, but: if you're going to upgrade the rears with 245/45 16's, may I suggest you upgrade the fronts to 225/50 16's, to keep the traction balance you have with the current setup. (If you desire less understeer, you can run 245/45's up front.)
I have Dunlop SP8000's on my car (225/50 16 front, 245/45 16 rear) and really like them. Many people have say they are crappy tires, but they have lasted me all year (I've done 13 days of track driving), and I feel they offer plenty of grip, even on the track! Wet weather driving isn't an issue either. They have a better wear rating than some of the other performance tires (like Yokohmamas, Michellins, Bridgestones...etc). Hope this helps, -Zoltan.
