my starter has die before two days and after the measurements with my multimeter i found out and was so obvious that the contact of the solenoid just R.I.P :)
if you never replace it just do it, mine was 25 years old.

I have replaced a starter solenoid but it is interesting to see what might cause the failure.

Here is a good starter rebuild DIY. My starter had the cracked "white part" and could not be repaired.
