What is this red button for?
I noticed my clutch was too close the brake pedal. I pushed it in and over to the left and it is now firm in place. no more side to side play. but now the red button isnt being compressed. whats it for? should i be worried? Car is DD.

It lets the cruise control know when the clutch has been depressed so it will shut off and not over revv the engine. Vehicles without factory cruise don't have it.
|
Funny because cruise control doesn't work anyway. Ha!
|
You might want to check the cruise control now that the button is depressed... if everything else is intact. The bottom un-pressed would cause the cruise to turn off, simulating the clutch being pressed.

Dude, your clutch pedal is FUBAR.
It should be landing on that black rubber pad at the top of your picture, not off to the side like it is. You are so far off that the metal tab is not touching the CC interlock switch, like others mentioned above. Take a good look at what's going on, or something big is going to happen I fear. |
Flux Capacitor cut off switch?

Yes, that should be a worry. |
Could the plate on which the button is mounted be bent, rather than the pedal? Realign the plate and problem solved?

+1 on that pedal cluster. Yikes.
|
also, I have read references to the firewall sometimes cracking around the clutch master and flexing.
