Replacing hatch gaskets

The hatch gaskets on my '84 944 have seen much better days. To clarify the part I am discussing, it is #24 in the illustration below.

I have a couple of questions about replacing them. First, is it worthwhile to use used gaskets? Are they even available new? Our host has them listed, but only as special order.

Right gasket 944 512 366 01

Second, anyone have experience in replacing these things? I found one site with a walkthrough, but it is a little lacking.

No, don't buy used. If you have a local Porsche dealer you can order there, mine beats pelican, and doesn't charge shipping. They are super easy to replace. Have you done the hatch pin seats yet? SS hatch pins? All good stuff to do while you're there.

Thanks. I went over to the local Porsche dealer at lunch. I had printed out the part numbers along with the description. The guy at the desk was quite surprised that I came prepared. I think he is just used to people at the customer window asking for floor mats for their Cayenne.

He told me that there is only one warehouse where these things are stocked. It will take about a week for them to come in. They were $19 less each than they are from our host and $2 less than Stoddard with no shipping added.

I have the seats and pins done already. Next week will be hatch time as I should be getting my new hatch seal from Kyle around the same time as the gaskets.
