Body torque and the rear hatch...

I fixed it.. I think.. whenever I'd torque left or right My hatch would rattle, it wouldn't pop open because I need new hatch shocks.. but it would unlatch.. so I lubed the mechanical pieces with silicone (after cleaning them) and adjusted the hatch bolts.. and it's done.. but my switch doesn't work from inside the car.. so wtf would that be?..

With the hatch open get someone to press the hatch switch while you watch the little electric motor thats behind the carpet just above the spare wheel. Could be a bad motor or just a fuse. Or even the cables not properly adjusted.

Hi Frankie Fingers Felonious Ford Fencer! Important note: Porsche calls that a "Rear Hatch Release" button, not a "Rear Hatch Opener" button. Have you tried to open it after you push the switch, or just assumed that since it didn't pop open, the switch wasn't working? When you and your car have a quiet moment, sit inside and push the switch. You should be able to hear the locking guys moving around. If not, take the switch apart and clean the contacts, as per window switch.

G.L. Amigo~!

Tod I'm not very PC.. rear hatch realease.. hehe.. whatever it's called it aint werkin.. no noises.. it's just ded.. I'll play with it next weekend.. but!!.. does the body torque so much that the hatch does become dislodged?.. seems possible.. my elcamino had a quirck.. when I'd punch it.. the tail gate would fall off.. I hated that..

LMAO! That makes punching it pointless since you'd have to back up to get your tailgate!

I wasn't poking fun at ya, Frank, on the PCA website, there's a section called "upfixin der Porsche" and I got a compilation of a few years worth. In the compilation they have reprints of "Warbonnet" meetings, where Porsche experts have a little Q&A with PCAers. That was one of the answeres, the button name. And now I have passed it on to you.

Enjoy!

hehe, I'd drag race someone then go back and get my tailgate, it was a riot. el camino was awesome, but the tailgate was awful.
Funny as S^&T. I also had a ranchero with a 351 cleveland. I went through brakes like whore goes through rubbers.. hehehe..

toodles,
Frank B
