Fuel pump leaking

Hello all,

So it is Spring which means I am driving the 944. It also means that something inevitably crops up. Today it is the fuel pump leaking.

So the car has plenty of power even while dripping like a leaky faucet. It only actively drips when the car is turned on and it is dripping from the area highlighted on the photo.

It seems it is coming from that big shiny brass nut although the other connector higher looks suspicious as well.

So what sat you? New fuel pump? Is that brass nut part of the new pump?

Anything else I should do?

Thanks in advance,

Jerry (GHEN)

On further inspection that 19mm brass nut at the front of the pump was so loose I could twist it with my finger.

Any ideas on cause and if I can just tighten & test?

Tighten it up and test it. It's likely that pump was replaced once and wasn't tightened properly then.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

So I tightened it up & tested it...no leaks. I then re-installed the pump cover and let it run this morning for several minutes...no apparent leaks.

Looks like i may have dodged a bullet. Any ideas on making it easier to get that fuel pump cover back on? I had a bear of a time getting that metal band to go where it was supposed to.

Occasionally, the fuel pump body leaks.
In my case the top of the pump was loose from the cylinder part.

28 year old fuel hose?

Is that fuel hose in the photo the original factory hose? If it is that old it may be worth replacing it with fresh hose. Have fun.
