Porsche Crest Wheels/Tires

I am ready for new tires and will use Original Fuchs 7x15 front 8x15 rear. Fronts will be 215 60 15. What about the rears? Should I use same 215 60 15 or wider? Also I am having hard time to find tires. My old ones are bridge stones and I am not happy. Soft sidewalls poor life span. Suggestions will be appreciated. The car is used as everyday summer fun ride.
PS: I know Pirellis are best but too pricey for me.

I recommend to anyone at this point to use the research tools at Tire Rack. They evaluate tire brands, models, sizes, price and reviews. You can't "buy" this kind of research.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

If you go wider in the back, expect lots of understeer.

944s handle best with equally-sized tires front & rear, assuming stock suspension/alignment settings.

The factory used 215/60/15 all the way around, even though the rear wheels were an inch wider.

Thank you for the good advise, if Porsche used same size all around, I am not smarter than Porsche to change it especially with the car being 100% stock. As far as tires I am leaning towards Michelin Super Sport. Has anyone used them?

Michelin Super Sports are a very good all round tyre but if you are only using summer or in areas where temp is rarely below 5deg C, my favourite tyre would be Bridgestone RE11. Have a look at the reviews on this tyre at Tyre Rack to get an idea of what they are like. Definitely not soft walls

I would personally run a staggered set 225/50 at the rear and 205/55 up front. Porsche specified a staggered set up as standard on the 944

I prefer 225/50/15s at all 4 corners with that size.
For the record, I'm currently running 225/50/15s on 7X15 Cookie cutters (I also run the same size on my 8X15 Fuchs) but we drive our cars the way they are meant to be driven. While the 911s used 205s on the front, unlike the 944s, they don't have the weight we have up front. I have been driving with this combination since the 80s when I bought my 1st 944.

And when running the 205s on my old turbo, it pushed when driven hard, and 225s fit fine, with no issues. While the 205s are correct for the 16s, on the 15s, that the guy who started this thread stated he had on his car. My 1st 944, in the 80s, with Fuchs

Agreed an N/A 944 should have the same boots on all corners, it's got an almost 50/50 weight distribution front to back.

I've ran 225's all round and they work good however I have also fitted 205's on the front to earlier cars without power steering as it makes the steering lighter at lower speeds.

I just purchased an '87 924S. Owners manual says wheels are all 6x15 but I have 6's in front and 7's in the rear (phone dials). Tires look new but are quite old so I want to replace them. They are 205/50's. Way too short, don't fill the wheel wells and gear the car too low. Owners manual says 195/65's. Comments above seem to say keep all 4 tires same size. Even with wider rear wheels?
205/60's are .3 inches shorter than 195/65, 215/60 a little bit taller. I want to keep the car nimble, no plans for autocross or track. Advice?

You can use 87 up 951 7&8X16s rims, Boxster wheels ect on the 924S (I have used 7&8 Phone dials & sewer lids on my 87 924S and even 18" BBS Sport Classics (me fender lip is rolled) currently have 17" Boxster wheels on it) so you don't have to stick with the 6s, personally, I like the 17" Sport classics

Thanks, but I'm a bit of a purist and want to stay with the stock phone dials, although I could maybe switch to 16's which I think were optional on the 924S.

Yes, they were, and the 931s had the forged sewer lids in 16s (and I have a few sets)
Course my 924S is currently getting a 968 3.0 & six speed and Turbo "S" susp & brakes , factory Euro bumpers and a Max Crawford carbon fiber hood

931 (not mine ) with lids.

Like I said, I have a few lids

Even have a set I had powder coated for my 924S.
