Confusion with the 944 Haynes Manual
Hello All, I have a couple of questions regardng the Haynes 944 manual.
I am checking the functioning of various fuel and air system components this morning on my 87 924S and have found that manual states that each of the injectors should be getting voltage (with the ignition switched on, of course) but it fails to state what that voltage should be. I get 1.60 Volts to each of them. Does anyone know what the voltage should be for these? Is this correct voltage? Also, in the descriptions for testing the Air Flow Sensor the manual states that the voltage between terminal #9 and ground should be 8 or more volts for non-turbo models. The trouble is there are only four terminals on this connector and they are labelled 1-4 on the sensor itself; there is no terminal #9. There are aalos some tests requiring terminal # 7 as well but the same issue stands; I only have the four labelled terminals to work with. What is the story with this, anyone know? Thanks in Advance,

Michael,
The 924S uses the same electronics as the same year 944 and 951 (944 turbo). If you have the PDF factory manuals the testing plan is part of the second engine PDF. If not search this board as I and others have posted the tests for both the AFS (air flow sensor) and the TPS (throttle position switch). NOTE: There was a change of voltage to the AFS for the later model 944's -- post 85.5. Do you have a specific problem with your car?

Sorry just re-read your post and NO you should have the same voltage to the injectors as you have across the battery terminals.
Check the voltage to the injectors from the engine block to ground. One should be battery voltage as it comes directly from the DME relay. The other may be battery voltage as it comes from the DME (brain). If you don't check the grounds from the battery to the chassis and to the eingine block.

Thanks SoCal, perhaps these terminal numbers ( # 7, 9, 6 and 22)refer to the DME terminals? If so, the manulas are rather unclear. I'll give the factory one a look too-and check out my grounds as well. Thanks again.
