Finally, my spare engine!
It's been quite a while but the engine is in my basement (that was a job!!). I hope to have it on my engine stand by this weekend. It will be used to practice maintenance operations while not screwing up my running car.

Looks like you have the best one too. A 1983 engine.

Thanks!
V2, How many should I collect? ![]() I don't plan on destroying the engine while learning on it so maybe I'll rebuild the thing from the ground up (someday).

BTW, the engine to stand bolts (in case anyone was wondering) are M12 (size) x 1.5 (thread pitch) x 80mm (length).

If you want to play with a 2.5 you have, it's the one in your car. The spare is bullet proof. You don't need to mess with the rod bearings, etc... They're perfect.

Very nice!! An early engine with early style water pump! Now the question remains, how did you get it into the basement? You and a another buddy or two carry it down?

I say, he slid it down on the pallet through the bulkhead with it strapped down.

Exactly! The stairs are pretty steep so I admit that three of us did it, mainly to protect the engine from any damage.
Matt: The reason for buying the spare is so I wouldn't practice on my nice running motor. It doesn't matter to me what year the spare is, in fact, I'll trade this one for an 84' (just help me with the bulkhead ![]()
