Cheaper front wheel bearing cap
The front bearing caps for my 968 occassionally fall out when tracking the car. There are many threads on how to prevent this. But usually the cap can't be found and a new one is needed at $35 + shipping. Sure the Porsche one is nice but.... I found a trailer bearing cap made by Fulton, part number F001508 Grease Cap Zinc Plated 2.251" cost $3.29. I popped it in using a rubber mallet and it fits perfectly. The wheel fits fine over it. I run without the wheel center caps but don't see any reason they wouldn't fit since they are so far outboard.
Thought this might help somone out someday. Here is what I ordered: I have no affiliation with etrailer. ![]() |

Good idea.
On my track car, I drill tiny holes in the caps to eliminate loosing them. When the bearings get up to track temps, they build pressure behind the caps. One tiny hole relieves this pressure. |

Anybody know of a similar substitute for the 911? I've lost two caps at DE's so far. Opening is about 2.125". I've searched trailer but no luck; cheapest OE part is $35 plus shipping (Porsche list $42).
