968 Tip tronic in a 944 ??

Hello out there,
any one put a tip tronic in a 944 or a 2.5 in a 68 chassis with a trip tronic .

I am asking due to the fact the trip gets it signal from the 3.0 computer , im wondering if any one has got this to work through the 2.5 computer.

Please pm THANKS

just a note: it's Tiptronic, not trip. you'll probably have more success in searches using the correct spelling

the tiptronic has 5 different shift patterns, which it controls through its own computer, and all of which are load related (those are the signals it gets from the engine ECU). i don't think it would respond well to being connected to a motor with half the torque or double the torque, depending on which way you went. it would think that the transmission is under a particular load that it really wasn't.

You would need a controller for it. The 2.5 computer doesn't talk to the transmission in any way. Would probably be easiest to find one that you can tee into a vacuum line.

no worries. i just figured that if you were trying to find info on the tip, it would be easier to enter that in the search block.

roflmao - that one makes me crazy, especially when i hear it from a president. if he couldn't pronounce it, he sure shouldn't have been trusted with the button to use it.

Haha for some reason your post instantly reminded me of that. Additionally, i did also learn something today. I have never ONCE heard anyone ever say "tiptronic". I have been living a lie! Ha!
