what cowl pieces am I missing? please help!

Guys,

I just picked up this 944 and don't know very much about these cars. It appears as I am missing some cowl pieces? When I close the hood I can see my battery cables and battery compartment. I am pretty sure it shouldn't be like that...

Look forward to hearing!!

Thanks,
Paul

That's it. There's just the one flimsy plastic piece shown in your picture. The battery area and the fuse box area are not covered.

The battery has its own separate cover, it fits over a stock sized battery. Available new or comes up used on eBay sometimes.

Do you know the part number by any chance?

9FF made it convenient to google that specific part and I found many sources where they are available for about $10, Everyone I know with a daily driver quality 944 here don't bother with them.

There is also a metal shield that bolts to the hood by the battery. If there are two unused screw-looking holes there, your car came with one.

Sorry, IDK the P/N. I'm sure you can find it in PET (parts catalog), which is available on the Porsche website.

It diverts rain water from falling directly onto the battery and apparently also prevents tampering with the battery from outside the hood.

Maybe the plastic cover replaces the shield? IDK.

It may be a safety thing to prevent something getting dropped in there and shorting the pos battery terminal to the body work and starting a fire or otherwise damaging something
