Farewell For Now ALL

Well I traded my 944 for a 66 Chevelle. I can't thank you all enough for all your assistance while I got the Porsche ready for market. Everyone here has been great! I'm sure I'll get another one in the near future and will be back. The new owner's name is Rod Thomas and I'm sure he will be seeking advice here as he takes it to the next level and I'm sure you all will show him the same respect and kindness you have showed me.

Thank You All again!!!
Todd

Enjoy the Chevelle, hope it has the 396 turbojet with a hurst 4 speed "rock crusher" shifter.

My cousin has his 66 SS and its literally the only car that has scared the crap outta me.

Right now it has a 230 straight 6 with a Powerglide. A barn find with only 66,000 miles and all original. Probably keep it that way and trade it down the road after I make it gorgeous. I know what you're talking about though. A buddy of mine had a 69 Chevelle built to the hilt and yes, it DID scare that crap outta me.

Good luck with the Chevy. I too have an appreciation for simple 6 cylinder antiques. Sometimes you just need that in your life. Have my eyes on a '68 6 cyl. 2WD Suburban right now.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

One of my first memories is of my Dad and I riding around in his brand new red 66 chevelle with a 327 4 speed, it had the redline tires with the mag style hub caps. One day we stopped into a shop owned by one of his buddies, and there sat a very similar chevelle except for the blown big block sticking out of the hood. He started it there in the shop, and I was a car guy from that moment on.

Good luck with it.

Thanks. Just so you know what I fell in love with. Haven't gotten all the barn junk off it yet (yes, a barn find)

This also came with the deal.

Bye for now.

Sweet. Such patina. Only thing I'd change is to find on original set of dog dish hubcaps, and clean the heck out of it.

When you see sixties cars anymore, it's always the upmarket/sport versions. The SS Chevelles and Impalas, Fairlane GTAs, Mustangs all with V8s. Back when these cars were just transportation, the 4 doors with the six banger are what you saw every day. The survival rate is so low, because they weren't "special". There were probably four of these, just like it, along my paper route when I was 14.

I think it's cool. Buon Fortuna!

Thanks, Alfadoc. I plan on leaving it pretty much as it is. There were 2 style hubcaps that came out back then and I want to be sure to get the ones most likely to have come with it. Having sat in a barn for 40 years there is caked on stuff on the hood, roof and trunk lid that I'm having a heck of a time getting off. Trying Mother's Clay Bars next.

By the way, my folks live in Charlottesvile (I don't think that is far from Lynchburg) and I'll probably be driving it down Labor Day for a visit. Also have a stop-over in Woodstock if you want to see the progress up close.

Todd
