944/2 (951S) many dash lights on

so I have the exclamation point, abs, brake pad, seatbelt, and airbag lights on all the time. I just bought the car - 88 951S Silver Rose. the PO said and abs sensor was bad, airbag was disconnected (aftermarket steering wheel), pad sensors weren't installed.
the factory wheel is back on. I can confirm that pad sensors are not in. but the rest of it I cant decide if is correct, or if theyre all connected somehow. other lights are not on (gas, oil, etc).
do you think its all individual issues? or no?

after he put the factory steering wheel on he said that the previous po had spliced the wires or something, that's why the light didn't go off..

ideas? I haven't dug in and done any tests. its a pretty heavily modded car, so it may all be from one thing.

Air Bag Warning Light Reset

My results below. Also, if it doesn't work via the door strap, you can always the ground side to the battery ground too:
Clarks-Garage airbag reset instructions did the trick, airbag, seat belt, and big red ! are all gone now. I tried it multiple times until I pulled out my phone's stopwatch app and followed the ~5second rule for each connect/disconnect.

I didn't use the crazy alligator clip bs, just ran a 14 gauge wire from the airbag reset molex connector (middle pin), and made sure the wire was tight in the hole. Then ran 3ft of wire with the other end stripped and grounded to the passenger door strap/ metal stop in the middle of the door.

I did everything from the passenger seat as follows.

Ground middle pin to door strap with 14 gauge wire,
turn key to 2nd position on ignition -~5sec
disconnect for ~ 5 sec
ground to door strap again for ~ 5sec
disconnect ~5sec
wait another ~5sec and turn ignition off
start car and 10 sec later all lights out

Thanks Clarks-Garage!

ill try that! thank you so much, ill let you know what happens!!
I was thinking alty related. it had a bad battery when I got it, and the alty is only putting out mid 13.x volts.
but ill give this a go, it sounds more appropriate, im guessing because the airbag was disconnected they came on.

Right, any airbag mods aka non oe steering/ no airbag steering wheel will trip this lovely feature on.

Good luck and let us know your results.

alright, that got rid of airbag.

now i have abs, ! , and brake pad lights on.
there are no brake pad sensors in, so that explains that. i believe the abs and ! light are connected to the same issue. bad abs sensor, or ive read dirty plug at abs module maybe?

Do you have a spare abs relay/is it there in your fusebox? Try replacing it and see if the lights go away.

Also this, check out that the main conector at the ABS computer, while properly seated and locked, it probably has begun to oxidize resulting in a bad connection in one of the leads. All that is required to fix it it, is clean the connectors, add some non conductive grease and all is good to go.

You can find it at the passenger footwell, right kick panel.

the abs in inop on my 944S and I think the issues are way more than I want to try to fix, and the pad sensors not connected on that nor my 86 951.

had to pull the gauge cluster in both for other issues, so just pulled those bulbs.

but also best to check to be sure there is not some real issue that needs fixing.

good luck.
