Order a replacement fuel pressure regulator, fuel damper, and fuel filter and be patient. There is no such thing as a cheap Porsche.

A loose connector on the AFM, spark plug wires in wrong order, bad or misfiring injector, timing belt skipped a tooth. Also check for a vacuum line pulled loose.

All that's good other then timing could be a possibility. What about the dme? When they go bad are they just bad or can it do something like this?

I would suspect the timing is off. Your description and troubleshooting point to timing.

My guess would be 2012 sense the oil change sticker is from 2012 and the mileage is only 212 miles on the nee oil change. So 2012 is my guess and you think itd just s tooth off or something

Backfiring indicates that ignition timing is off. Since the ignition timing is controlled by the ECU, the other possibilities are the rotor (not pointing in the right place) or plug wires incorrectly positioned in the cap. Could also be the ECU is bad (very unlikely). What type of 944 is it?

The AFM would be the second thing to check after the timing.

This is how I did mine:

How about a weak ignition coil.

SOunds just like mine when I did plugs, wires and rotor.

I had cylinders 2 and 3 transposed on the distributor.

As stated above- I would definitely check the spark plug wires

Also Remove the J-Boot and make sure there are no cracks in the rubber, while the boot is off verify that the door on the AFM (air flow meter) is moving freely - (I was helping a friend bring a 944 back to life, and found the door inside the AFM was sticking causing some rough running issues)
