Windshield Wiper Switch Rebuild

Has anyone ever tried drilling out the rivets and opening up the wiper/blinker switch? What I am particularly interested in is whether there are any springs or such that shoot out when the thing is opened or make it hard to reassemble.

The reason that I ask is that the wiper switch on mine has become intermittent on the middle speed (the one I mostly use). I know for certain that it is the switch and not the cable or motor. I'd obviously rather not spend $250+ on a new one if I can fix the one I have. I also, if I can avoid it, don't want to destroy the one I have and render the car un-drivable while I wait a currently unknowable about of time to get a new one from Porsche. So if anyone's ever opened one up - and even better put one back together - it would be of great help.

Thanks!

Ah, mine is the square dash model so I don't think my advice will help you as I think the column switches are different to the latter oval dash model.
