Squeaky noise after adding spacer
I installed a set of factory 993 wheels on my 87 911. The front wheels bolt right on. The rear wheels need 25mm spacer to bring the wheel closer to the fender. After the installation, I hear small squeaky noise, not grinding noise coming out from the rear wheels. It only comes on 2 seconds before a complete stop. Not very loud but annoying. I have checked the tires. They are not rubbing against the fender or any brake components. The rims seem O.K. too. Any suggestion where the squeaky noise coming from? It sounds like is coming from the brake. I did not have the noise when the original factory wheels were on.
Thanks, Caliber |
I may not be close but the first thing that came to mind was maybe the new wheels and spacers are amplifying the noise that may have already been there.
Maybe you can put the old wheels back on one side at a time to at least find out what side is noisey. JUST GUESSING. |
Did you torque the lugs???
|
hey roadman,
I'm going to be in Baton Rouge for Thankgiving, is there anything cool going down around there around that time?? Just curious, don't want to be bored with the family while I'm there for two weeks:( |
No, I did not torque the lug. I asked the tire installer to torque the lugs. He used a breaker bar instead. I thought forget it. I will do it myself.
I will try that. |
