Quick and Easy DIY : blower motor resistor
I'll try to get pics and details later:
'87 944 NA Does the blower motor fan run only at the highest setting? Have you tried banging wires, or really don't see the sense? Then this is for you. Haynes shows the early MY's. Step 1 : pay through the nose for a blower motor resistor. One nostril if you get a non-Porsche resistor. Step 2 : pull up the seal just around the blower motor area. Mine needed little effort. Vacuum up debris. Step 3 : pull up the plastic cowl thing and support it up with some wood. Mine is a bit broken. It can be glued back, I used silicone. But for this, just ignore it. Step 4 : detach plug from resistor. It's the white thing on the top of the blower. You don't have to remove the blower! Step 5 : unscrew two mounting screws in the resistor and pull it out. Put the new one in. Nothing magical or rocket science here. Step 6 : plug it back in. Put everything back tidy. Turn things on - delight in settings 1-4 working again. Hope to get piccies and a part number over here soon. Supplement : how to make your old resistor work again? Anyone? |
