Question Turn signal issues again

I have an 86 944 na. The sidemarker lights never worked when I got the car. About a year ago, I made the mistake of letting a BMW mechanic take a whack at getting to work. He rewired the front and they worked. Problem is within a month or so, I can't get the right turn signal to work. You can push and hold it up and the signal indicates on the dash but actually not working. The left works fine but it doesn't cancel when you turn the steering wheel back to the right. Stays stuck turning left.

Also, when the emergency brake is engaged, the "!" signal is no longer illuminated. It comes on when you turn the key but goes off after that.

Finally, my temp and fuel gauge cluster is lazy and sticks. It pops once you are up and running for 10 minutes or stop but it is stuck when you first start the car. The temp never really registered correctly and barely moves.

So, I got that going for me. Any ideas on the problem and the solution? Can't pass inspection until that is fixed.

This type of issue sound suspiciously like a bad ground issue. When he did all the wiring work, do you know if he had to remove the turn signal control assembly or it's connectors from around the steering wheel? When you combine turn signal issues with non-cancelling problems, it makes me wonder if one of the two connectors behind the assembly might be loose or not properly re-assembled on the car.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Check the switch at the park brake lever. The 968 I bought that "needed nothing" had a broken pin on the switch.
As for the other problems, hope you can get them all sorted.

Fuel gauge. Forgot to add this to the last post. The fuel gauge on the 951 will not always read full. It will jump around a bit until half a tank down then seem to be ok.
I remembered a write up about the rod the tank float rides on was slightly bent on that particular 944. I don't remember if it was replaced, or repaired.:

Turns out my speedometer/odometer issue was electrical after all. Whenever the "!" stopped appearing with the parking gauge engaged, it meant the female connector had worked itself loose from the male connector on the cluster. Pull it and re-attach and everything worked well. Finally solved the odometer gremlin. I am updating old posts because a fellow Pelican is now taking Nikki to a better place and I don't want all the knowledge wasted.
