85.5 944, starter solenoid not getting voltage

Hi guys,

My starter won't crank, the solenoid won't even click. I checked the starter is getting 12V, but the signal wire, i mean the wire that actuates the solenoid is not getting 12V when I turn key. I measured with a voltatgemeter, it's like 4V.... There is definately something wrong..

I checked fuse box, looks like all the fuses are ok and none of the fuses is related to starting.

Is there somewhere else to look for? Worst case it would be the start switch itself..which would be a nightmare.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1445119871.jpg

Update:
Just traced the solenoid wire to the engine compartment where there is a 2-pin connector. unplug it, clean terminals, then plug back in.... Getting 11V on solenoid...... I guess it is the connecting issue....Old wire harness....

Is there anyway you take a picture or give me some direction as to where this 2-pin connector is located I'm having a similar issue

The 2 pin connector on early cars and the 924S series is located behind the brake booster.

FRWilk Remote Starter DIY TIP:

Find the thick wire going to the starter
Disconnect the 2 pin connector and connect ONE remote starter wire to the THICK wire going to the starter and the other remote starter wire goes to battery +12V.

Or to make an emergency jump starter, get a piece of thick covered wire about 6 feet and a 1/4" blade connector.

Make sure the car is in Neutral
