DME fuel mixture switch question
Hi, a clarifying question on the switch on DME box (8 position) do ? The one that changes the fuel mixture + or - and option to retard the timing.
I'd problems with the CO level in the past and finally yesterday had cleaned out my old airflow meter and installed that instead of my "new" piece and finally got the CO level back to about 1% (+- 0.5%) (this is a euro specs car). So the airflow meter was the problem. However, I had forgotten that I had left my DME switch at -3% for fuel mixture (when I was trying to solve the problem of 4% CO). I know it's no big deal to change the DME switch back to the 0 position and re-adjust the mixture but as I do not have a CO meter, it would mean another trip back to my mechanic. Hence the question - when the DME switch is set to reduce mixture by 3% - does it simply reduce the mixture throughout the range - in which case, as long as my mixture at the tailpipe is okay, it is safe to leave it or it does something more exotic and I really should redo the adjustment ?? shlim '86 944 (just recently discoverd my 944 is a 86 (GN) NOT 85.5 - registered in Oct '85) |
