Belt issue?

Hi, I've just had my belts replaced and car was nice and smooth for a couple of days, then I got a bad vibration after then, is it possible the balance belt could have slipped a tooth. Sounds like a balance issue but maybe an engine mount, although it would be a coincidence happening just after a belt change, strange that it was smooth for two days before this occurred. Any thoughts would be good.

Engine mount vibration usually goes away at 1500rpm +
Motor Mounts - Checking

The BB rollers may have been incorrectly tightened and came loose.

Check the belts to the PS pump or AC compressor.

If the vibration is at about 3300rpm, could be a bad clutch disc.

Or choose from any one of these noises...

Thanks John, those points will be checked, the roughness is from tickover up to 3500 plus, I haven't taken it any higher at the moment. I did think clutch (50k) 10years old but I treat it with care.

Pop the upper belt cover off and check your belt tension by hand first. Something may have slipped.

Roughness up to 3500 sounds to me like a balance shaft belt issue. Being off "a tooth" isn't usually as bad as being off 180 degrees.

Yes I think you are right, had it checked and marks were out, readjusted and now running nice. All I can think of is the belt being too slack and it jumped, didn't think that could happen but something did as it was originally ok for a couple of days. Hoping it stays where it is now!! As always thanks for the replies.

Just curious...are you using a Conti balance belt or a Porsche (Gates) balance belt? I've had a couple of Conti belts jump time recently because of the "improved" design. Adjustment was spot on with the 9201 gauge, but they jumped anyway.
Thanks,

That's interesting, it was a conti belt. It was tensioned a bit more this time. Hope they don't 'improve' them further!
