Transmission trivia
Couple bits of trivia;
Loctite for the driveshaft coupling sleeve bolts - yes or no? There's an E-clip I have here - I thought this goes on the shifter, or does it go on the locking bolt for the shift shaft? |

Loctite - no.
E-clip holds the shifter lever engaged to the black shift rod thing. |

Thanks
Must have kept the E-clip with the bolt in error. Reason I ask about the Loctite - it feels tight going in, but ok once it goes in - as if the threads are cutting old sealant out. Can't meet the torque spec without feeling excessively tight/wearing the head. Obviously related to my older thread about how long they last. |

I had to cut a coupler in half to remove my transaxle once because one of those bolts wouldn't come off. When reinstalling I actually use anti-seize. Never had a problem since, never was too loose whenever I had to take them out.

Thanks, and noted, sausagehacker - this coupler is interesting - grade 12.9 bolts means something. Seen a thread with crescent shaped holes worn in the bolts.

Bump - what happens if the electrical leads ( not the plug on the exhaust side ) are attached opposite?

Nothing, that switch just completes a circuit for the reverse lights.
