Cool Newbie here...sayin whats up! And a Wheel ?

Whats up guys? My name is Greyson...just got my 85.5 944 2 weeks ago. 92K with full history... I've been an H20 VW guy my short life, but wanted a 944 forever. Well I got it and hopefully it does well to get me through college. Well I have a question as well. I have a good idea of suspension setups, but want some different wheels/tires. I'd like 17's but not sure where to look besides ebay. Any suggestions there? Thanx...hope I learn alot here
Later,
Greyson

Hi Greyson! Welcome to the board. The best advice I can give you is don't listen to me. I'm a numbskull.

Well I hopefully will get pics up tomorrow. School is hectic now and workin 2 jobs leaves no time. I do have a few questions...
1) What is the best size exhaust tubing for this car is I stay NA ?
2) What chip do I go for (no smog tests here)
3) Can I find 17" twists with tires for $1000?
4) Are the Weltmiester 1.5" drop springs with 250lb rate too much for my Boge's?

Sorry for al the questions, but we all start somewhere

What are twists? Like the ones I have on my car? There are lots of chips out there for 85.5 cars. Go to the weltmiester webpage, write them and ask, I bet they know best. Don't know about the exhaust, I left mine stock.

I'm thinking more along the lines of the stock Porsche Twists 17x7 and 17x9 There is a remake as well, but they are about $1000 for the wheels alone. Clean 944. Does that side molding come right off or were there holes under it? Would be nice to pull it off mine. I have an opportunity for some near new Kumho 712's in 225/45/17. Would these look odd on 7 and 9" wide rims? Or would it even out and not be too noticable?

Nice collection of links. I don't how you got away with it, I was chastised for it when I made a request for something along those lines a couple of weeks ago.

Perhaps chastised was not quite the right word but when I had inquired as to where everybody here did their shopping so I could compile a list for my use on my webpage. This is the respone I got:

A general rule of thumb you can use here:
If the product is available at Pelican, don't post a competitor's site.

Something about biting the hand that feeds you.

Sorry Mark. I did not mean to come off so strong. I am a user here myself but find that this particular forum is probably the best for tech expertise and professionalism ( and no I am not shooting down the other forums ). Pelican does go out of their way to accomodate us and rarely says anything in their own defense if somethoing is said that is off color. So, just let it be said that I am a pelican fan and please accept my apology.

hi!! Ill just comment on the wheels. I just recently got a set of 17" C2 wheels with Escta supra 712's on them for $500 for all 4! It was actually an early Christmas present. well They look awsome and 17's are a perfect size and if you look hard enough and be pacient you can find a private seller who's not out to make money and get a great deal.
