It took a year, but finally it goes properly!

My 944 has been driving my crazy with the normal 944 stutter and after almost a year of slowly replacing all the likely suspects with little or no change to the car's behaviour (AFM, reference sensors, temperature sensor, J-boot, spark plugs, fuel filter, ignition switch, and as soon as they arrive from the USA, distributor cap and rotor) it seems my 944 is cured!.

Like so many things on this car, it doesn't quite add up. It is an 82-build USA spec car, with a three-wire o2 sensor. I disconnected the double plug for the sensor (the third, single wire is still, at the moment, plugged in) and the car now runs perfectly! Not a hint of any surge or hesitation on any throttle setting or temperature.

As far as I can make out, this is not the correct o2 sensor for the car but hey, it now goes like it should so I'm not complaining!

Good on ya. I've been down the same road myself; replaced nearly everything and it came down to a faulty ECU (DME). Enjoy your toy in your beautiful country. I love it there.

Yep, and it's great. Just driven it from Christchurch to Hampton Downs for Porsche festival. Fuel consumption is now amazing. Christchurch to Wanganui 7.6 litres per 100km or 37mpg (Imperial gallons) and the engine which always ran hot now sits right in the middle of the gauge.

All is happiness in my Porsche world right now!
