Lindsey Racing reviews

Hi guys.

I took the motor out of my car and after going over the outside and some on the inside I think it is going to be worth the money to get it rebuilt, I did a search and Lindsey racing came up quite a bit, A engine to be redone in Canada in starting at 6500 Canadian, that's not machine work if it needs it. I still think it is going to be a lot cheaper to ship it to the states and have it done down there, I am not far from the border so I can drive it across and have it shipped to them so I eliminate duty and all the fees, has anyone have had any work done or motors rebuilt, if so what are they like to deal with. how was your build. Thanks is advance

Do a search on this forum and on Rennlist. Lots of information out there if you spend a little time researching both of those forums.

All things being equal, seems your money goes a lot further inside CAN right now than here in the US with the current exchange rates.

did not involve engine rebuild, but they helped me turn this

into this. I was totally satisfied by the support I got from LR.

this winter full suspension upgrade planned.

Chris,

you have one of the best race engine shops / machine shop in North America in the Annapolis Valley. I can't imagine Allyn couldn't fix you up.

i emailed Lindsey about getting the lines needed for the LR fuel rail, which I already had. I just needed the lines and they don't offer those on the site. they didn't reply at all.
so, I wouldn't say I am impressed with their customer service. their prices are high anyways. I would find a reputable shop to do your work instead.

I dealt with Mike regarding the kind of motor I wanted to build and he was very helpful. I could talk about anything with Mike. I believe Mike deals with all the engine builds and I dealt with Dave on tuning & all that other stuff. I sent my head & intake down. Had a level 2 port & polish done on the head & extrude hone on the intake and they did a great job. I would have sent my short block down also but the shipping costs would be very high.

Check out my cam / lifter failure thread. You'll see how I feel about them.

A rebuilt cylinder head should of included inspection and changing of the pressure reducing valve o-rings in the cylinder head. Their failure to change those o-rings cost me thousands, good cams, damage to my head.

Only after a post in renlist with a tech bulletin addressing noisy lifters on the 16v cars did I realize the valve was the problem. When I changed the o-rings my lifters silenced.

When the failure first happened, they said too bad so sad, did you run the car without oil?

AZZ Holes.

Maybe with turbo's their better? I'd avoid them at all costs if it has anything to do with two cams.

Check with Markus Blaszak near Ottawa (not sure if I spelled correctly) I hear good things about their services. It would save the US exchange costs...

I am deep into a TB, WP, and repl oil cooler gaskets on my Bro's 87 944S.

if you are describing what I think you are, that component is in the oil cooler housing not the head. unless you are referring to something different. I am not pulling / rebuilding the head.

LR may not be the cheapest. but as I told Dave the first time I talked to him when starting on my 951 track car.

"I have good news and bad news. good news is I expect to spend a lot of $$ with you. the bad news is you will earn every penny."

and they did and I got great support.

and regarding 'missing an email reply'. can you imagine all the emails they probably get? I have sent a couple and when did not get reply called them.

always willing to take some time to cover issues.

most of these specialty shops are small operations. but I value the experience and willing to pay a little extra for parts to get the advice.

I will not consume time from folks such as LR and not buy stuff. do you work for free? I really struggle when reading stuff where folks go to these kinds of shops for advice then scour ebay to get the cheapest price.

just ordered this from LR. INTRAX RSA suspension kit.

I have been totally satisfied dealing with LR.

Nop! Not the OPRV. It is called the pressure reducing valve. Head does not have to be removed to change the o-rings.

Here is the valve, from the "rebuilt" Lindsey head.

COMPLETELY silent after changing those o-rings. Greg Brown pointed this out...

thanks for clarifying. I had seen this but got confused at how similar the one is on the oil cooler housing.

I can appreciate your disappointment understanding what you were explaining.
