Harmonic Damper

This gets a little confusing since some people call it a harmonic balancer. This part has nothing to do with the balance of your engine. It's all about crankshaft twist.

Here's an article I wrote for Vintage Motorsport magazine on this topic.

The front pulley on the 944 is solid so maybe it is in the back of the engine, flywheel or clutch plate.

In the meantime drive it like grandpa!

Djnolan - the 944S and S2 have a damper as factory fitment...guessing something to do with the modified valve train or RPM range.

The 968 did not have one, but had a DMF fitted instead.
