Harmonic Damper
This gets a little confusing since some people call it a harmonic balancer. This part has nothing to do with the balance of your engine. It's all about crankshaft twist.
Here's an article I wrote for Vintage Motorsport magazine on this topic. Richard Newton |

The front pulley on the 944 is solid so maybe it is in the back of the engine, flywheel or clutch plate.
In the meantime drive it like grandpa! |

Djnolan - the 944S and S2 have a damper as factory fitment...guessing something to do with the modified valve train or RPM range.
The 968 did not have one, but had a DMF fitted instead. |
