951 performance questions

In your honest opinion, how fast in mph does a 951 go? If a 951 is modified slightly, how much horsey power will it have? ex: chipped, magnaflow full exaust, kandn cone filter kit and performance plugs......I know this question has popped up before, but......:D

To start with, refer to the owners manual for the basic HP numbers. Keep in mind this is for a new car and not 30 years old. Refer to Lindsey for some HP mod figures to get a feel for how much more you can extract from this engine before the cylinder head begins to start blowing head gaskets.

Spark plugs aren't worth any power unless your old ones are totally shot.
K&N filter isn't worth anything either.
Chip and exhaust are good starters...if your car was a 217hp model, with a chip and exhaust maybe 250 now?

A stock 951 will do ~100-110mph in a 1/4 mile if that is what you are asking...if top speed, over 150.

I read in a Porsche book from the 1980's that the turbo will top out at 155, nothing on the quarter mile, a k and n filter will reward you with some horse power, I have a cone filter kit, and a full large diameter magnaflow exaust, a chip, and some othere performance goodies that the original owner installed. So for an older ride, that's pretty good stuff.:D

My turbo drivetrain is stock except for chips and a modified banjo bolt, so it's boosting to 15-16 PSI. Boost builds starting at 3K rpm but is not full-on until 4K. The engine wakes up to some serious coffee at 4000 RPM but the chips help enormously at lower RPMS. I am guessing there's about 250-260 horses (as opposed to factory 217hp).

0-60 is probably around 5.5 and top speed is waaaay too high for me to ever get there. But there is serious power still available at freeway speeds, I will say that much.

To each their own, but I would not recommend "performance" plugs or a modified filter. Research by others has shown that these are ineffective.

On fully rebuilt turbo engines I see full boost at 2800-3000 rpm. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Ok, I guess I will clarify by saying you don't feel it in your seat until later. Boost is not providing significant thrust until 3.5K to 4K rpm without major modifications, whether or not it's a rebuilt engine and turbo unit or not.
