Is this correct?

Hello everyone,
You know that i am in the process of supercharging my 86 n/a. My original plan was to use the n/a computer and put a j&s safeguard system for knock sensing and timing control, a 5th injector and an intercooler. Well someone told me this about when i supercharge my car, please read this and tell me if this is correct and will work.. Thanks

"John, the 951 computers are programmed for the early 944 n/a cams, lower compression pistons, fuel system(fuel pump, injectors, fuel rail, regulator), and some boost. With the 951 computers, they'd sense how much boost was being created/used and adjust the mixture correctly, even incorporating a knock sensor. Probably the cheapest and easiest way to
do you supercharging project."

This doesnt sound correct to me. Anyone? Thanks alot

John

Yes it does. That it why standalone engine management is a must for supercharged applications.

I used an in-dash air fuel meter by Lindsey Racing, and with the original NA computer the system took constant tweaking to keep it in check.

So you think it would actually be cheaper to use the 951 computers instead of a j&s safeguard system? Would i need the turbo injectors, regulators and rail then? Would i even need the 5th injector then? Thanks

John

PS- wouldnt this be very hard to wire up the 951 computer in place of the 944 computer especially since there are 2 instead of one?

No I meant you should investigate stand alone from another company. It was a pain in the but trying to integrate the NA electronics into the supercharger kit.

BTW I don't think you could run the 951 computer without the wiring harnesse, and some extra sensors.
