loweing the front of a 951

pretty sure my suspension is stock up front in my 88 944 turbo other than koni shocks.
what is a simple and cheap way to lower my car about a half maybe a tiny bit more. cant afford to go any lower with my tire setup

Cheers!
Drew

Change the springs. Some of the aftermarket springs are a little shorter to bring the nose down a half inch or so. I"m not sure of which ones do this but it's usually stated in the springs specs.

Weltmeister 200 and 250 lbs springs are shorter and stiffer than OEM ones. They should be direct fit.

The Welt springs are about 1.25" drop.

Yes they will but.......are you leaving the rear height stock?

Free shade tree methods would include cutting parts of the spring off, heat, gasp chains. lol
Buy the weltmeister. I ran them and do not like them, however, personal taste.

I was lucky to purchase a 951 already lowered, a really nice drop, I was unlucky to have it dropped because now I cant even clear speed bumps at shopping malls!

No, the rear is also lowered to be in the same height. You can change the height of the rear in 0.75'' inch range relatively easily without re-indexing the torsion bars.

Assuming the rear has never been adjusted, you can usually get about .5 - .75" drop by adjusting the spring plate.

DannoXYZ 03-19-2016 05:08 PM

If you don't plan on adjusting ride-height very often, you can just cut off the lower spring-perch (as close to strut as possible). Then just re-weld it back onto the strut at about 90% of the height-reduction you want.
